"Stylóo" was an Italian musical group formed by Rino "Ryan" Facchinetti, the founder and creator of the group, together with Alberto Signorini and Tullio Colombo. These three longtime friends were united by their shared passion for electronics. Rino and Alberto recorded several auditions, including "Pretty Face". Although the demo had been proposed to Tony Carrasco, he, unconvinced and busy at the time, declined the offer to collaborate. After this episode, the three decided to enter the recording studio with Walter Bassani and Marcello Catalano, the arrangers and producers of "Pretty Face". Among the various demos, it was this catchy melody that was chosen as the main track. They made the final product and presented it to the record company "Durium". Although the work was greatly appreciated, due to the long waiting times for publication, an agreement was not reached. They therefore decided to take the song to "Discomagic", where in addition to Severo Lombardoni, there were also Roberto Turatti, former drummer of Enrico Ruggeri's Decibel, and Micky Chieregato. The two producers immediately liked the song, and they offered to remix and produce it. The name "Stylóo" was coined by Rino Facchinetti, who is still the sole owner of the brand today. When Roberto Turatti asked them what their names were, the group responded with wit: "You already have the money (Den Harrow) and the jewel (Joe Yellow), all you need is a stylus to sign the checks with us!" It was 1983, and the song, entitled "Pretty Face", was released in over 20 countries, selling 400,000 copies and becoming a global success. Towards the end of 1983, Rino Facchinetti dedicated himself to other dance productions, such as "René" with the song "Don't Hurt Me" and "Meet Point" with "The Key Of The Night", always with the studio guidance of Walter Bassani. Meanwhile, Alberto Signorini began recording a new song with Tullio and Walter Bassani. The single, titled "Good Times", was intended to be the follow-up to "Pretty Face". However, Signorini felt that his voice was not suitable for this song, and singer Jimmy McFoy was called in for the vocal part. Initially, it was thought to release the single under McFoy's name, but at the last moment it was decided to release it under the name "Paul Paul". Subsequently, "Miss You" was chosen as the follow-up to Stylóo, but this decision did not lead to positive results on the sales front. In 1989, Rino Facchinetti took on the role of A'n'R (artistic director) at "Disco Magic", alongside Severo Lombardoni in record production. He also worked and managed the "Disco Magic" recording studio, contributing to the creation of many dance productions, both as a main artist and as a session musician for others. Facchinetti used various pseudonyms for his productions and also gained experience as a soloist under the name Ian Lex. In 1993, a new version of "Pretty Face '93" was released, under the title Styloo feat. Ian Lex, exclusively presenting his voice in both the lead and backing vocals. In 2006, Facchinetti's passion for the music he has always loved was felt again, and it was crucial to find himself in the television studio with his friend Garbo. On this occasion, Alberto performed the song "How Do I Get To Mars?" in duet with another icon of Italo-Disco music: Valerie Dore, who returned to singing after 17 years of inactivity. In 2022, “Stylóo” made his long-awaited return with the single “We Should Be Dancin' / Movin'.” This marks a new chapter in the group's history, confirming its lasting presence in the music scene. To mark their 40th anniversary in 2023, a revisited version of one of their most iconic songs, "Pretty Face", was released. This special edition celebrates the group's past and offers a new interpretation of the song that contributed to the global success of "Stylóo". It's a meaningful way to honor their musical heritage and engage both longtime fans and new generations. The release of this revised version also testifies to the group's continued relevance and influence in the musical landscape.
