“Ray Foster”, born Raymond Foster, is an English singer famous for having performed two very important songs from the Italo Disco music scene. Foster made his debut in 1981 as a Jazz singer playing two old songs featured in the compilation "The Uncollected Joe Reichman And His Orchestra 1944-1949". The two songs on the album sung by Ray Foster are “A Lovely Way To Spend An Evening” and “I’ve Had This Feeling Before”. In 1984, the two Italian musicians Romano Bais and Luca Orioli proposed a song they created entitled “Breakdown” to Steve Ennever, sound engineer at “Rimini Studio Records”. Enthusiastic about the demo track, Ennever contacted singer Ray Foster, who in the meantime was in England, and asked him to come to his studio in Rimini to record the song. The musical project was called “Ray Cooper” and was produced by Stefano Secchi and Maurizio Pavesi. “Breakdown” was recorded in the spring of 1984 at the "Rimini Studio Records" of Mario Flores (producer and author of the songs of the band “The Creatures”). Davide Gatti and Graziano Ravizza played on the keyboards and the album was subsequently printed in Milan on Stefano Scalera's "Many Records" label. In 1985 the second and last single of the “Ray Cooper” project entitled “Destination” was released. In that same year, Ray Foster was asked to sing the single “Run To Me”, composed by Graziano Pegoraro, Pier Michele Bozzetti (Miko Mission) and Romano Bais. The album was not successful in sales but in 1986, the DJ and producer Claudio Cecchetto decided to have the English singer Tracy Spencer reinterpret the song, achieving resounding international success. “Run To Me” by Tracy Spencer became the summer hit of 1986, won the Festivalbar and was included in many Italian films of that period. In Italy it reached first position in the charts and remained in the Top 10 for twenty consecutive weeks. In the 1986 year-end chart, Tracy Spencer's single was the second best-selling in Italy. Also in 1986, Ray Foster's second single entitled "Be My Girl" was released.
