PLASTIC MODE
“Plastic Mode” is an Italo Disco musical project founded
in 1985 by the producer and composer Mario Boncaldo in collaboration with the
two producers Tony Carrasco and Angelo Valsiglio. Mario "Mariano"
Boncaldo was born in Messina on 20 March 1949 and began his musical career in
the early 1970s as manager of the Camaleonti and Bruno Lauzi. Subsequently he
was the road manager of Lucio Battisti, Mungo Jerry and Barry Ryan. After
opening the "New Reals" record shop in Rimini, in the early 1980s he
began a collaboration with DJ Tony Carrasco. In 1982, thanks to the “Klein
& MBO” and “B.B. & Band”, Boncaldo and Carrasco achieved great
international success, especially in the United States. In 1983 the single
"Unisexappeal" was released under the pseudonym "Europe"
and in 1985 the "Plastic Mode" project was born, of which we remember
the beautiful singles "Mi Amor" and "Baja Imperial". Mario
Boncaldo died in Rome on 18 March 2015.
