Domenic Troiano was a Canadian rock singer, songwriter and guitarist of Italian origin, born on January 17, 1946 in Modugno (Bari). Three years after Domenic's birth, his family emigrated to Toronto, Ontario. Domenic became a Canadian citizen in 1955 and in his early teens, developed a love of rock and R&B music. One of his early idols was Canadian Robbie Robertson. Troiano picked up the guitar at the age of 15 and taught himself to play by buying chord books. His first professional music job was in the early 1960s with a band led by Ronnie Hawkins. In 1965 Troiano joined a local Toronto band called the "Five Rogues", who later changed their name and achieved success as "Mandala". The "Mandala" disbanded in 1969, and Troiano together with other members of the band formed the new musical group "Bush". The “Bush” disbanded in 1970 and Domenic began a collaboration with the band “The Guess Who”. In 1972, Troiano announced his first solo album, but before it was completed he joined the “James Gang” replacing the late Joe Walsh His biggest hit came in 1979 with the disco song "We All Need Love". The song reached the Top 20 in several European countries and became a radio hit in Canada. In 1981, Troiano formed a new band called “Black Market", and released a new album. He later turned to film and television soundtracks, and as a producer for other artists. In 1992 the track "We All Need Love" was remixed by the Eurodance group "Double You" and reached the top places in the European charts.In 1996, Troiano was inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame. Domenic Troiano died of prostate cancer at the age of 59 on May 25, 2005.
