"Tom Tom Club" are an American band of music New Wave. In 1980, after the great success achieved by the "Talking Heads" with the album "Remain In Light", bassist Tina Weymouth and drummer Chris Frantz, companions also in life, formed the group of "Tom Tom Club". The debut album "Tom Tom Club" was a pleasant surprise with great international success thanks to the singles "Wordy Rappinghood" and "Genius of Love". "Genius of Love" reached number one on Billboard Disco's Top 80 chart and sold over 100,000 copies. Tina Weymouth wrote the lyrics as well as singing the song. The song is one of the most sampled tracks of the 80s, particularly within the hip hop and R&B genre. Recall "Genius Rap" by Dr. Jeckyl and Mr. Hyde in 1981, "1982" by Grandmaster Flash and Furious Five in 1982; "Fantasy" by Mariah Carey in 1995 and "Genius of Love 2002" by X-Ecutioners in 2002. "Wordy Rappinghood" reached second place in the Hot Soul Singles chart. It later peaked at # 31 on the Billboard Hot 100 in April 1982, becoming the only Tom Tom Club track in the Hot 100. In 1983, they released their second album "Close To The Bone" accompanied by the singles "The Man With The Four Way Hips "and" Pleasure Of Love "but achieved less success than the previous one. After five years of absence from the scene, in 1988 they released the third album "Boom Boom Chi Boom Boom" followed by the single "Don't Say No". 1992 saw the release of the complex's fourth unreleased album, titled "Dark Sneak Love Action," without obtaining public approval. The album was anticipated by the release of the single "Sunshine and Ecstasy", which nonetheless achieved a moderate success in the US "Dance Music / Club Play Singles" chart. The group's latest unreleased album in chronological order, "The Good, The Bad, and the Funky", was released in 2000 and went unnoticed by the public.
