Thomas Leer pseudonym of Thomas Wishart, is a Scottish musician born in Port Glasgow in 1953. Leer has played in several experimental Scottish pop groups since the mid-70s. He moved to London when the punk rock scene was at its peak and formed the punk band "Pressure". In 1978 he switched to synth-pop and band influenced music Krautrock. His single "Private Plane", recorded in his home apartment, is considered a seminal example of DIY techno-indie ("Do It Yourself"). After the cult album "The Bridge" of 1979, in collaboration with Robert Rental and strongly influenced by industrial music, Leer's career underwent a massive commercialization towards synth-pop. Representative of this period is the album "Act", made with Claudia Brücken. It gained moderate popularity in Italy in 1985, thanks to the single Heartbeat, which obtained numerous television broadcasts. From 2004 onwards, Leer will return to the electronic and experimental atmospheres of the beginning.
