Rinder & Lewis's Biography (El Coco-Le Pamplemousse)

Laurin Rinder, born Laurin Martin Rinder, and William Michael Lewis were a duo of American producers, musicians and composers. Laurin Rinder, born in Los Angeles on April 3, 1943, began his career as a session musician as a teenager and in 1968, during some concerts, he met W. Michael Lewis and they began playing together. In the early 1970s, they were more interested in hard rock, but after a few sessions working for the new record label “American Variety International” (AVI Records), label boss Ray Harris asked them to arrange some songs of that musical genre called "disco" which was becoming popular in clubs. In 1975, “El Coco” was born, their first disco music project. They debuted with the album “Brazil” (1975) which was followed by the successful albums “Let's Get It Together” (1976), “Cocomotion” (1977) and “Dancing In Paradise” (1978). In 1976, Rinder & Lewis founded another great “disco” project: “Le Pamplemousse”. In 1977, the singles “Le Spank” and “Get Your Boom Boom Around The Boom Boom”, sung by “The Jones Girls”, were among the most danced songs in American discos. Other notable projects created by Rinder & Lewis were: “Discognosis”, “In Search Of Orchestra”, “Saint Tropez” and “Tuxedo Junction”. In 1977, Rinder & Lewis released the bizarre concept album “Seven Deadly Sins” which spawned two major hits: “Lust” and “Envy (Animal Fire)”. In 1979, under their names “Rinder & Lewis”, they released the album “Warrior”. Their fathers were depicted on the cover while an unconventional disco version of the "Willie And The Hand Jive" set was included inside the single. In 1982, Laurin Rinder decided to abandon her musical career to dedicate herself to photography and painting while Michael Lewis still works in the musical environment.
