Daniele Mei, famous under the pseudonym “Meo”, is an Italian disc jockey, musician and record producer. Born in Bologna on April 3, 1960, Meo began his career as a radio DJ in 1976 on “Radio Etere”. In 1977 he began working as a DJ in the disco at the club "Le True" in Bologna. Subsequently Meo worked for a few months at the “Arlecchino” disco in Molinella (Bologna) before becoming, in 1978, the resident DJ of the “Pap” in Baricella (Bologna). Together with the owner of the place Bibi Ballandi and Michele Torpedine, they decided to transform the place and change its name. Thus was born the "Chicago" nightclub, one of the cult clubs of the 1980s. The musical genre was purely afro-funk proposed by the DJs "L’Ebreo", "Spranga" and "Meo". Meo did not stay at “Chicago” for long and moved to “Les Cigales” on Lake Garda as the shoulder of DJ Rubens. In 1985 he recorded his first album, "Fine Corsa"; which will prove to be a success. At that time, Meo began working in another cult disco of Afro music: the "Melody Mecca" in Rimini. In 1986 he released his second album "Sesta Traccia" and the songs "Chichita" and "Fiesta" were often offered by DJs in afro-funk clubs. In 1987, Meo released the single Cikuana / Alturas under Bob One's Modena label "American Records".
