Jasper van't Hof is a Dutch pianist and keyboard player born in Enschede (Overijssel) on June 30, 1947. Born into a family of musicians, his father was a professional trumpeter and his mother a classical singer. Jasper began studying piano at the age of five. During his teens, van't Hof knew he wanted to pursue a musical career and started playing in school jazz bands. At the age of 19 he was already participating in jazz festivals with the drummer Pierre Courbois and Toto Blanke. In 1969 he became a member of the first European jazz rock band Association P.C. with the German guitarist Toto Blanke. He played with the pianists George Gruntz, Joachim K’hn, Wolfang Dauner and Keith Jarrett. In 1974, Jasper founded the "Pork Pies", a group consisting of Philip Catherine (guitar), Charlie Mariano (saxophone), Aldo Romano (drums) and Jean-Franàois Jenny Clark (bass). After this experience, Jasper founded two other bands: "Face to Face" with the Danish bassist Bo Stief and the saxophonist Ernie Watts and "Pili Pili" with the African singer Angelique Kidjo. He was repeatedly named the best jazz pianist in Europe. Along with big names in the jazz world he has performed in famous clubs, festivals and even in churches. Jasper has written over five hundred compositions.
