Harald Thumann, famous as Harry Thumann, was a German keyboardist, record producer, composer and sound engineer born on 28 February 1952. Harry had his first experiences in the world of music as a drummer, but he had a great passion for computers and electronics. He built his first recording studio in his bedroom. In 1976 he participated in the development of the “Solid State Logic SL 4000” series of mixing consoles and took one for his studio. This console revolutionized the recording industry by combining inline mixing with a computer that provided fader automation and programmable tape transport auto-tracking functionality. In 1979, Thumann released his first solo album “American Express”. The hit single "Underwater" was included on the 33. In Italy, the song was used as the theme song for the sports program "La Domenica Sportiva" and several years later it was used in the video game "Grand Theft Auto IV". In the early 1980s, Harry opened a recording studio in Germering, near Munich. Using a Commodore 64 computer with MIDI cards, combined with synthesizers, Harry composed the music for the first "Rondò Veneziano" albums. His second solo album “Andromeda” (1982), contained the very song “The Sphinx” which would become the theme song for the famous American television series “Knight Rider”. Under the pseudonym "Wonder Dog", he brought success to the piece "Ruff Mix", a very original song obtained by sampling dog sounds. In September 1982, the single "Ruff Mix" reached number thirty-one in the UK Singles Chart. Harry Thumann died on January 1, 2001.
