Fred Ventura, pseudonym of Federico Di Bonaventura, was born in Milan on 16 July 1962. Di Bonaventura can be considered one of the most important exponents of Italo-Disco. He began to get interested in music in the mid-70s, when he was 13 years old. After having played in several underground bands (An Incoherent Psyche, Le Jour Prochain), in 1979 he became the drummer and later the vocalist of "State Of Art", a seminal group of the Milanese underground scene of the early 80s. After this experience, strongly influenced by the European synth synth pop Fred started his solo career writing and singing songs with a strong dance inclination, just when the phenomenon "Italo Disco" exploded all over the world. After having published as many as 11 singles and an album entitled "East & West" under his name, 2 singles under the name "Flexx" and many other collaborations, in 1989 he decided to turn the page and started producing records in his home studio for several independent labels, but above all for Evolution Records and the Free-Zone, labels he founded and managed with the aim of promoting new talents belonging to the Italian electronic scene. All this led him to make several albums and compilations including "Totally Wired Italia" for the English label Acid Jazz and 3 albums from the Vibrazioni Productions project. From 1997 he devoted himself simultaneously to DJing and to the artistic direction of the Milan 2000 label. In 1999, together with Enrico Colombo he started a new production team called Bedroom Rockers, which led him to produce and remix artists of the caliber by Erikah Badu, India Arie, Sting, Carmen Consoli, Elisa and many others until arriving in the year 2001 to the publication of the first album of the Bedroom Rockers project, "The Tundra Workshop" published by Universal Records. Simultaneously with these activities, at the end of the 1990s a series of positive collaborations began with some established European neo-disc producers such as If, Alden Tyrell, Jupiter Black and Mr. Pauli, all affiliated with the Dutch label Clone, a real revitalizer of the Italo Disco phenomenon.
ITALOCONNECTION
The Italoconnection team is the result of over twenty five years of friendship and occasional creative meetings between two agitators on the scene underground electronic milanese. Fred Ventura and Paolo Gozzetti, with extreme continuity and with a great clarity of purpose, they have produced, arranged and mixed a multitude of dancefloor songs in their individual careers. Since 2010 they have decided to join forces and to give more continuity to their electronic raids by using it pseudonym Italoconnection which clearly suggests the will to revive the glories of the Italian disco of the early 80s in a form modern and not ostentatiously retro. The Human League, Hurts, Ou Est Les Swimming Pool, Hooverphonic, Etienne Daho, Peter Wilson, Tobias Bernstrup, La Prohibida and Peter Wilson are just a few of the artists remixed or produced by Ventura & Gozzetti. The duo has recently published on the Dutch label Bordello In Paris the Metropoli album featuring various vocal guests including Francesca Gastaldi, Francesco Rago of the Atelier Folie, Alessandra Contini (ex of band "Il Genio") and Martin Blix of the Swedes Group "Italove". Soon they will begin recordings of a new album scheduled for early 2020.
