Eddy Grant, pseudonym of Edmond Montague Grant, was born in Plaisance (Guyana) on March 5, 1948 and is a reggae / pop musician, singer and record producer. From an early age he emigrated with his parents to London. In the sixties he founded a multiracial musical group called "The Equals" of which he was guitarist and main voice. The lineup reached the top of the British sales charts with the single "Baby Come Back". After the dissolution of "The Equals", Grant continued as a soloist and in 1982 he reached the top of the charts twice with the songs "I Don't Wanna Dance" and "Killer on the Rampage". In 1988 Grant recorded the last of his great hits, "Gimme Hope Jo'anna", a reggae manifesto against apartheid. Eddy Grant was the founder of the "Ice Records" record company, based in Barbadose and later producer of artists such as Sting, Mick Jagger and Elvis Costello.
