Diana Est, born Cristina Barbieri, was born in Milan on 12 June 1963. Cristina became part of the music world as a backup singer of Ivan Cattaneo in the TV musical program "Mister fantasy". With the help of his uncle Bruno Mario Lavezzi (composer, songwriter and record producer), he obtained a recording contract with "Dischi Ricordi" and was offered to interpret a song written and arranged by Enrico Ruggeri and Stefano Previsti entitled "Tenax". As a debut album it was more than good, one hundred thousand copies sold, twenty-third position in the Italian Hit Parade, but especially a great catchphrase from disco. The following year, Diana Est will play another song by Enrico Ruggeri "Le Louvre" and will be classified in second place of the young at the Festivalbar in 1983. His third and final single in 1983 "Diamanti" was a great flop and Cristina decided to leave the world of entertainment after only two years of career. Now she lives in Milan, she has two children and she has also opened an antique shop but she’ll always remain an icon of Italo-Disco music.
