Carrie Lucas is an American R&B singer, born in Carmel (California) on October 1, 1945. In 1974, Carrie Lucas married Dick Griffey, founder of "Soul Train Records" and "Solar Records". It was thanks to the first label that Carrie debuted in 1977 with two hit singles: "I Gotta Keep Dancing" and "Gotta Get Away From Your Love". Carrie Lucas' second album, 1978's "Street Corner Symphony", was recorded with "The Whispers" as backing vocalists. In 1979, the singer released “Carrie Lucas in Danceland” and her producer husband Griffey brought Jody Watley (Shalamar), Lakeside and Walter and Wallace Scott (The Whispers) to the recording studio. Kossi Gardner wrote and played the hit "Dance With You", a song that also achieved good success in Europe. The basis of "Dance With You" was used several times in the following years. The most famous adaptation is from 1999 by “Armand Van Helden–U Don’t Know Me” while the most recent was by “Dj Kuba & Neitan X Skytech-Dancing” from 2021.
