"Brooklyn Dreams" were an American R&B and disco band founded in 1977 in the borough of Brooklyn, New York. The group consisted of Joe "Bean" Esposito (vocals and guitar), Eddie Hokenson (drums) and Bruce Sudano (keyboards). Their self-titled debut album, "Brooklyn Dreams" (1977), received positive reviews, largely due to the hit singles "Street Dance," "Sad Eyes" and "Music, Harmony And Rhythm." In 1978 the single "Heaven Knows" was released, performed by Donna Summer, with Joe Esposito as second lead vocals and the rest of the group on backing vocals. Released on Casablanca Records, the single reached number four on the American Billboard Hot 100 chart.
In 1979 the second album, "Sleepless Nights", was released, which achieved good commercial success thanks to the single "Street Man", a song widely used by disc jockeys in dance clubs. Also in 1979, Brooklyn Dreams wrote the song "Bad Girls" for Donna Summer, which reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100, Hot Black Singles and Hot Disco charts. The group toured as an opening act for Donna Summer and performed on the popular talk shows "The Mike Douglas Show" and "The Merv Griffin Show."
Joe Esposito continued his solo career, with songs appearing on numerous movie soundtracks, most notably "Flashdance," "The Karate Kid" and "Coming to America." Bruce Sudano and Donna Summer later married.
