“Boys Town Gang” was a music band from San Francisco (California). In 1980, DJ Bill Motley decided to create a musical group aimed primarily at the vast gay clientele of San Francisco. Thus began a selection by listening to hundreds of singers, both male and female. Cynthia Manley, a local cabaret singer, was chosen as the female voice. In early 1981, the first single "Remember Me/Ain't No Mountain High Enough - Cruisin’ The Streets "was released. The track on side A was a medley of two songs by the group “Ashford & Simpson” while on side B a song written by Motley himself was recorded. For the release of the record, a private record label was founded. In this single, Cynthia Manley had vocal support from Robin Charin, Don Wood, Phill Manganello, Tom Morley and Keith Stewart. Thanks to the voice of Cynthia Manley, the song "Cruisin' The Street" took off in all Californian clubs. After this experience, Cynthia Manley left the group and was replaced by singer Jackson Moore. Towards the end of 1981, the second "Boys Town Gang" album titled "Disc Charge" was released. That album included a cover of Frankie Valli's famous song "Can't Take My Eyes Off You". Jackson Moore recorded the song in a San Francisco studio. To promote the single, it was decided to support the two dancers Tom Morley and Bruce Carlton in live performances. "Can't Take My Eyes Off You" achieved resounding success throughout Europe, peaking at number one in the Netherlands, Belgium and Spain and fourth in the UK. The group's latest LP, “A Cast of Thousands”, was a medley of famous disco artists such as Debbie Jacobs, Jessica Williams, The Two Tons, Sylvester, Margaret Reynolds (KC and Sunshine Band) and Marlena Shaw. In 1984, the group disbanded and Jackson Moore embarked on a short-lived solo career until the end of the decade.
