Robert Philip Orlando, better known as "Bobby Orlando" or "Bobby O", is a record producer and musician, born in Westchester (New York) in 1958. The son of a New York suburban teacher, Bobby "O" refused a classical music scholarship to pursue the study of other musical genres. In the late 1970s, his professional interests shifted to disco music and shortly thereafter he founded his own record label: "O" Records. In the 1980s he produced, composed and played in hundreds of musical productions published with various record labels. Bobby Orlando is considered to be one of the founding fathers of Hi-NRG dance music. As a solo artist, Bobby “O” achieved success with the songs "She Has a Way", "How To Pick Up Girls" and "I'm So Hot for You". In 1982 he collaborated and produced underground movie star Divine on the international hits "Native Love (Step By Step)" (with Orlando's voice in the chorus), "Love Reaction" and "Shoot Your Shot". In those years, he discovered and launched the American singer "Roni Griffith" with the hits "Desire" (1981) and "(The Best Part Of) Breakin' Up" (1982). In 1982 he founded the project "The Flirts" and climbed to the top of the charts with the singles "Passion", "Danger" and "Helpless". In 1984, Bobby "O" collaborated and produced the first hit songs of the "Pet Shop Boys" including "West End Girls" and "It's A Sin".
