Isabelle Powaga, aka Isabelle Antena was born in France on May 28, 1960. She was a founding member of the French-Belgian synth-pop trio "Antena" together with Sylvain Fasy and Pascale Moiroud. In the 1990s Isabelle created a new group, the "Powaga Sisters", with three albums between 1993 and 2004. Alongside these projects, Powaga has always maintained a solo musical career, selling over a million albums and earning musical acclaim worldwide. As a soloist, Isabelle Antena has experienced particular success in Japan and the Far East. As said, Antena was originally a trio, and towards the beginning of 1982, the three composers discovered their own sound with the wonderful song "Camino del Sol", combining minimal electro, pop and samba styles. The album was released in an early mini version containing only five tracks for the Belgian label "Les Disques Du Crépuscule" by Michel Duval and Annik. After this masterpiece and thanks to the producer Martin Hayles, in the summer of 1984, Antena signed an agreement with Phonogram, and jumped in the high ranking of British singles with "Be Pop". At the same time Isabelle moved to London. The second single, "Life Is Too Short", appeared in November, but did not bring it to its previous hit and that was how Isabelle returned to recording as a soloist for "Les Disques du Crepuscule". A new single, "Seaside Week End", appeared in early 1986, closely followed by the album "En Cavale". "Hopeing For Love" brought Isabelle to Japan for the first time, where in 1987 she was elected best international singer at the prestigious "Tokyo Music Festival". His subsequent Tokyo Dome performance between "Earth, Wind & Fire" and "Kool & the Gang" commercials remained a highlight of his career. Isabelle quickly consolidated this success with her third solo album "In a Warm Summer Night". In Europe she was released as "Tous Mes Caprices" and promoted with a Belgian tour in support of Vaya Con Dios, whose bassist Dirk Schoufs would continue to collaborate with Isabelle as a writer and musician and a few years later became her second husband. Also as a songwriter, Isabelle continued to write and record "De l'Amour et des Hommes" (1988) and "Jouez le Cinq" (1989) - the latter was republished only a few months later as "Intemporelle" (1990). Dirk Schoufs left "Vaya Con Dios" to join Isabelle, bringing with him the Vaya drummer Marco De Meersman and Fritz Sundermann, jazz guitarist and son of Freddy Sunder. This quartet formed the new creative core for the new album, "Les Derniers Guerriers Romantique", a conceptual work released in April 1991. On May 24, 1991, her husband Dirk Schoufs died, leaving Isabelle devastated. In 1992, after a year of reflection, Isabelle returned to the studio to record one of the best albums of her career, "Carpe Diem", released in Japan and France in November. The album was recorded by Gilles Martin with colleagues De Meersman and Sundermann in the Caraibes studio in Brussels, and was produced by Isabelle herself. After "Carpe Diem", he released ten more albums, including jazz, funk, Latin and house styles, as well as writing and producing for other artists. These included "Fragile on the Rocks", "The Powaga Sisters" and the jazz project "Pause Cafe".
